William Russell Eldridge Obituary

Huntsville, AL - Mr. William Russell "Bill" Eldridge, 84, of Huntsville, Ala., died April 1, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital in that city.


Mr. Eldridge was born Jan. 3, 1942, in the Wales Community of Giles County. He graduated from Jones High School in 1960. He went on to get his certificate as a Master Barber in Nashville and worked as a barber for 57 years in Huntsville, Ala. He was appointed to the Madison County Board of Barber Examiners in 2012. He is preceded in death by parents, William Alexander Eldridge and Louanna Russell Eldridge; daughter Amanda Edger Watson Bishop; sister Kathryn Eldridge Riddle; and niece Donna Harris Morse.


Graveside services were April 4 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Ala., with Pastor Dewayne Martin officiating.


Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.


Survivors include special friend and caregiver Alice Eldridge of Huntsville, Ala.; son Matt Edger (Mary Beth); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Wylodean Eldridge Peden (Carl); six nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
