Mr. James (Jimmy) Black, 91, of Minor Hill died Feb. 16, 2025, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, Ala.
Mr. Black was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Minor Hill. He was self-employed and a "jack of all trades" who had a passion for being outdoors, farming, playing Rook and being around people. He dutifully served the United States in the Army and Giles County as a commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of the Civic Club and Minor Hill Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by parents, James Paul and Willa Boyd Black; and stepmother Gertrude White Felker.
Funeral services were Feb. 23 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial was in Minor Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bank of Frankewing to help with family expenses.
Survivors include wife Sandy Thigpen Black of Minor Hill; son Derek Black of Minor Hill; daughter Debbie Gatlin and husband Browney of Prospect; stepdaughter Tammy Ball and husband Eddie of Pulaski; stepson Marty Robinson and wife Keala of Lawrenceburg; stepbrother Richard Felker and wife Evelyn of Pulaski; stepsister Fay Carter and husband Larry of Elkmont; grandchildren, Ashley Blair, Paisley Hemmon, Hannah Jackson, Tyler Black, Lily Black, Colten Black, Lane Ball, David Lee Ball, Carson Robinson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
