Pulaski - Mrs. Barbara Jean Sumners Smith, 86, of Pulaski died March 27, 2026, at NHC, Pulaski.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 17, 1939, in Elkton. She was employed by Torrington Faffnir and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pulaski. She loved the simple things in life and found great joy in gardening, watching flowers bloom and occasionally playing the lottery. However, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was the time she treasured most. She is preceded in death by parents, William Morgan and Susie Florence Carr Moore; first husband Bill Sumners; second husband Charles Smith; and great-granddaughter Addison Stokes.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Tuesday March 31, at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Giles Memory Gardens.
Survivors include children, Tracy Sumners (Beverly) of Frankewing, Terry Sumners of Pulaski, Kim Harber (Jeff) of Chapel Hill, Mike Sumners (Michelle) of Toney, Ala.; sister Frances Wilburn (Paul) of the Sumac Community; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
